Our Goals:
Attitude Acres goal is to breed and provide only high end, top show quality kittens and cats. Due to the whims of fate that is not always possible and we do occassionally have pet quality kittens for sale. All of Attitude Acres breeding stock have been successfully shown against others of their breed and have also met the high standards we have set to be used in our breeding program. All of Attitude Acres kittens come from champion lines.
Since our main hobby and objective is to show we generally do not have kittens for sale.
However, for the discriminating PET buyer, we will be more then happy to place one of our top quality kittens or retired show adults with you.
Please check our "Kittens" page to see what we may have.
A word of caution:
Are breeders all the same? Absolutely not! Besides going to cat shows, many breeders now have their own websites. Your best bet may be to look for a breeder through one of the major cat registration associations. Two of the largest, The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) and The International Cat Association (TICA) are good ones to start with.
However, keep in mind that just because a breeder belongs to a cat club or one of the major cat associations can mean very little. Nearly anyone can do this, if they have registered pedigree cats. We believe there are additional factors you should consider when adopting a pedigree cat, or researching a breeder .
1. Your first contact with a breeder may be via phone, fax, letter or e-mail. It is important to listen or look carefully at every communication you receive from the breeder. It can indicate more about them than you might think.
2. Do keep in mind that most reputable, established breeders have waiting lists for their kittens. Be very careful about catteries which always seem to have kittens available for sale.
3. How many cats are in their home, and were you able to see them all? Are you able to visit in person?
4. Standard "things" a breeder should do
Go with your gut!
Please feel free to contact us for more info regarding any of these suggestions. We'd be more than happy to elaborate for you....even if you aren't getting a kitten from us. But do realize these are just our opinions, based on our 10 years of experience with good & bad breeders. We will NOT give out names of "bad" breeders, but simply encourage you to make that determination for yourself. We can highly recommend several breeders and those that we believe follow the above.
Finally, just because you are purchasing a "pet" doesn't mean you shouldn't put great thought, care and investigation into the people from whom you are considering. Best of luck finding a new feline addition for your family!
A little about us:
In 1995 We acquired our first American Bobtail cat named "Winston". Deciding that "Winny" was a rather unique individual with an outgoing "Attitude", Attitude Acres was then born. We became actively involved and began working with the American Bobtail breed group for advancement of the Bobtail breed to championship status in TICA.
